Global Education & Service Learning - 18 May - 8 June, 2013 (VCU - SCBC)

Virginia Commonwealth Students will register for the spring 2013 course: Global Education & Service Learning which will include travel to Haiti and service at Lambi Village and Grace Village to provide cross-cultural exchange and learning opportunities for students and Lamarteine School, Grace Home for Girls and Boys. They will also participate in a building of homes project for families left homeless.


On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti and devastated Port-au-Prince killing over 220,000 people. The epicenter of the quake was Lagoane. It has been two years since the quake, there has been some but not much progress has been made to restore the lives of the Haitian people.

Virginia Commonwealth University and Spring Creek Baptist Church will partner with Grace International, a Haitian-owned ministry that operates over 279 churches, 3 orphanages, a medical clinic and a tent city.  The team of students and church members complete construction on homes for families in Lambi Village.
