Setshabelo Family and Child Services (SFCS), founded in 2014, is the first Black National Child Protection Agency in South Africa. It addresses the challenges of orphans and vulnerable children by mobilizing area faith communities. Its unique approach seeks to shift away from institutional care—orphanages—and instead develop family-based models for a child’s care.
Home of Hope Western Cape which is a government-certified residential program that ministers to young women caught in te crossfire of gang life, drugs and commercial sex work. Through spiritual care, personal development, medical treatment, and academic enrichment, young women graduate from the one-year program into new lives of hope, health and wholeness.
The Republic of South Africa is a country with diverse biological, geological, cultural and theological ecosystems. We will experience service among children; engage with ministry among young adults caught in the crosswinds of gangs, drugs and trafficking; share conversation with pastors; and tour cultural sites important to South Africa’s struggle for liberation from Apartheid.
Your presence and service will be a witness to Christ’s love and compassion for the people.
‘That which you have done for the least of these my brethren, you have done unto the Lord’ Matthew 25:40.
