100 Men 10 Homes – Team 1 - November 3 - 10, 2012
Team 1: Seven Men on a Journey
The first of 4 men's teams arrived in Haiti on Saturday, November 3rd. This team consisted of seven men representing 2 churches: Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Alexandria, Virginia and Maple Springs Baptist Church, Capital Heights, Maryland. Dr. Harry Pilson, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Alexandria, Virginia served as Team Leader. Bernie Lott, President of the Lott Carey Layman League also participated.
After resting on Saturday night, the team spent Sunday morning in worship at Grace International churches; Dr. Pilson had an opportuntity to preach. Following morning services the men participated in orientation and toured Grace Villages Tent City, Clinic, Boy's, Girls and Widow's Home.
Sunday evening was the team’s first visit to Lambi Village. As the community busied themselves, for their first ever ‘Revival’; the Lott Carey men greeted the residences. They also spent time walking and praying over Lambi.
On Monday, the team arrived at Lambi ready to work on 4 houses (one new construction and the other 3 needed finishing touches such as painting, railings, screens, doors and etc).
During the remainder of week, the men continued building, culminating on Friday with a dedication ceremony of the newly constructed home. Two families received keys and moved from their tents into their new homes. While the dedication ceromony was taking place, a team of laborers started clearing and prepping land for the next 6 houses.
